In Fitness Magazine this month they talk about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Exercisers.
Habit #1: Don't put away your gear. Leave your workout clothes out and ready to put on. Or leave your jumprope by the front door as a reminder.
Habit #2: Turn your commute into a workout. Ride your bike, walk, or run to work.
Habit #3: Invest in more workout clothes. Having dirty gym clothes isn't a good enough excuse to skip your workout that day!
Habit #4: Log your workouts online. Go to http://teambeachbody.com/trishnjoe and become a FREE member. You can log your workouts in and have a chance at winning $300-$1000 a day ... JUST FOR WORKING OUT!
Habit #5: Involve your causes. Donate $ to a charity if you don't lose your weight by the end of the week.
Habit #6: Make friends with class regulars at the gym. They make you accountable.
Habit #7: Create an exercise contest. Have your own The Biggest Loser contest with coworkers or play group parents.

Temptation ... it's everywhere!
I went into Big 5 Sporting goods the other day, and there on the counter was a big bag of chocolate covered pretzels for sale. Ok, really? I'm in a sports store! Why in the world would someone try and sell junk food in a store where you are shopping for things to keep you in shape?! This is just proof that there is temptation everywhere around us. But, who's choice is it to get suckered into that temptation? Well our own of course. But what makes you think that it's OK to say yes to the junk food that surrounds us? Who's idea was it to make our society overweight and fat?
As a human race we need to put our foot down to companies that create unhealthy habits for us all. Say no to the temptation and realize that the only right choice is the healthy choice. If you have to argue with yourself about what to eat, feel guilty for eating it, or justify what you put into your mouth then, you shouldn't even have it in your hand! If crappy food makes you feel crappy, then eat food that makes you feel good. Remember that the bloated feeling you get after eating junk food is not normal. Healthy food doesn't make you feel that a big balloon. Food is an addiction becuase the temptation is all around us. It starts with just being able to say NO.

Thanks Dad ...
"Always keep a Positive Mental Attitude - PMA BABY!" My father taught me about PMA when I was in college. There's something positive in everything. Honestly, what good is it going to do you to be negative about things? All you do is get angry and disappointed. Instead, if there is a negative situation, think of what could be positive about it. For example, You worked out last night, woke up this morning, got on the scale, and you gained 2 pounds. You are probably thinking, "What's POSITIVE about that?" There's a lesson to be learned ... work a little harder next time, watch your sodium intake, Rome wasn't built in a day (Thanks Tony Horton!) ... Keep your chin up because if you keep working hard and following the proper diet, you will see results! Also, your body knows when you are being negative. It's proven that you don't lose any weight when you are stressed or stressing about things! So, if you stress about weight loss, you are going to stay fat! Keep positive and it will seem like the weight will just fall off!
Try and keep positive role models around you. I know that it can get annoying hearing someone constantly saying, " But look at the bright side ...". (Ask my cousin. I drive her crazy!) But, there's truth to the madness! You are more likely to succeed at anything you do when you say, "I WILL ..." or "That's OK because ...".
Think of something that happened yesterday and turn it from negative to positive. For example,
if you had a bad day at work, be grateful that you have a job. And if you aren't grateful, then think of all the things that you can do to change the situation. Find a new job, make the best of the situation until something new comes along. Go back to school to better your education. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
There is a learning experience in everything we do. Make the best of it and I promise you that you will have success!
Here are my last few pieces of advice:
- Choose to commit. Make the choice to improve and be positive. Approach the things you do with the intent to succeed.
- Work hard. Good things are rarely easy. Real effort and a positive attitude are the fundamentals behind everything.
- Focus. Minimize your exposure to negative people.
- Bounce back. Learn from your mistakes and challenges and move forward.

Just shut up and do it!
I get so frustrated when people complain about how heavy they are or how they are so sick of not having energy. Well, quit your crying! Get off of your butt and do something about it! This isn't about buying P90X or drinking Shakeology shakes! This is about being able to keep up with my children ... living long enough to see MY grandchildren born! This is about not having to pay for medical expenses that could have been prevented with the proper care of my body! This is about feeling like a person should feel ... enjoying life and not constantly thinking, "Gosh I'm so tired." Or "I really shouldn't have eaten that 5th piece of pizza." That bloated feeling that CRAP food gives you IS NOT NORMAL PEOPLE! You should not feel that way after you eat! You should feel energized and ready to take on the world.
I have decided to dedicate my life to living healthy and fit. With that, my mission is to help others feel that way. Support groups? Fitness classes at the church gym? Stay at home Mom meetings? Working parent meetings? But, where there's a will, there's a way. I'm here for anyone that needs that extra incentive or motivation ... I got 'ur back!

OMG!
So super excited this morning! I woke up and got the courage to get on the scale. Now, this is something that I have avoided the last few weeks. Before the "warm weather season" got here, I topped the scale at 147 pounds. A few years ago, I worked my tail off to get down to 133 pounds, and magically, some of it reappeared .... maybe it missed me or something ... I don't know! But, anyway, that weight was not invited back. It's like that unwanted house guest that just shows up at your doorstep! Except mine landed on my front porch! (Get it? You call that extra skin on your stomach your front porch ... hahaha!)
A few weeks back I commited myself do getting healthy. Now, not just trying to lose weight but actually being fit and full of good foods. I'm a veggie hater and a chocolate lover! So this was really a struggle for me. By watching my calorie intake and exercising, I was able to lose a pound here and a half a pound there, but I still wasn't feeling "healthy". The cellulite was still there, the muffin top still made it's home around the top of my jeans, and my stomache still looked like my babies were just born ... they are 7 and 5.
I was frustrated. I felt that I was stuck in the mud and I couldn't get my feet and arms to move fast enough to get out. I have learned a lot about nutrition and excerise in the last few years. And I know that to change your body, you have to change your mind.
Well, I found my secret ... thanks to my new friend Darren Natoni. I started Shakeology 4 days ago ... in those 4 days I have lost 2 pounds! I can not wait to see what my body is going to do in 4 weeks ... 8 weeks ... even 12 weeks! I'll keep you posted!

Welcome to the First day of the rest of your life
Often times you look at yourself in the mirror and wonder, "What in God's name happened to my body?!" Then you realize that something has to change. So, you lay awake at night, unable to sleep because you are stressing about how you are going to change these things ... I'll stop eating those chocolate covered pretzels ... I'll workout a little harder tomorrow ... I'll just eat canned green beans and drink diet coke for the rest of my life!
Realistically, we all have to come to that point where we just can't take it anymore. We know that there has to be something out there that we can do. But, we get discouraged ... there is NO magic pill that will make us lose those last 30 pounds of "baby fat". There is no special cream that will remove that cellulite off of our thighs or stomaches. But there is something that we can do to help make ourselves feel worthy and attractive ...
